(a)    Bone marrow: It is a soft material, which fills the hollow interior of a mature bone. It is of two types. A central Haversian canal, which contains, nerves, blood vessels and lymphatics. Lamellae, which are layers of bone deposited in concentric circles around the haversian canal. Each lamellus is made ground substance, collagen fibres and calcium and phosphate. Lacunae, which are the flattened spaces between the adjoining lamellae. The bone cells or osteocytes are present in the lacunae. Adjacent lacunae are connected to each other by means of canaliculi. medical coding training focuses on these in detail.
