I work in a personal care home. I am a care companion. I help the residents with the activities of daily living. I help them to bathe and dress. I help them with their medications. I help them with personal hygiene too. Today, I found a duracell hearing aid battery on the floor. Almost all of our residents wear hearing aids, so I asked another care companion for some help. We were on a wild goose chase, looking for the hearing aid that had no batteries. I thought it would be hard to find the person the battery belonged to, but it ended up being quite simple. The residents were in the dining hall eating lunch. As soon as we walked in, we heard one woman complaining that another talked too quietly, and that woman was complaining that the other couldn’t hear a thing. We started there, and our search was over. We put the battery back in the hearing aid, and their conversation continued.
