In certain cases of infertility, the only option for achieving conception is through medical intervention.  This is true in cases where in vitro fertilization is recommended to join the sperm and egg outside of the woman’s body.  Over the years, fertility clinics have achieved significant success rates with this procedure, but they are not always without drawbacks.  For this reason, it is important that couples understand the IVF risks before shelling out the thousands of dollars required to begin treatment.  Of course the potential problems may outweigh the rewards of pregnancy for those who have been repeatedly been unsuccessful in getting pregnant.
