November 5, 2008 on 11:11 am | By admin | In HomeWhy are there loads of rules about the wearing of Lace Garters as a bride on our wedding day.I am not too sure when the tradition first came about but I believe it started in the Fourteenth Century. The bride would have 2 garters, both at the top of the right leg. One was as a keepsake, and the other was thrown by the groom to the single guys in the room. The same as the bride hurling the bouquet to the single girls.The single fella, then puts the garter round the thigh of the single female who caught the bouquet.NB - He used to have take it off with his teeth!Illuminating
