Types of stone flooring
March 30, 2009 on 4:42 am | By admin | In Home | No CommentsFor a floor that will outlast the rest of the house, choose granite flooring. This is one of the most durable flooring types on the market today. Granite has a speckled quality as well as white flecks in it which will present a unique range of colors in each tile. No two pieces are the same and it gives an ambiance of natural beauty to your home. Because this flooring is most often used in kitchens, bathrooms and mudrooms, it does need to be sealed. For the true natural look to your floor, slate is the stone of choice. Slate is a fine grained rock showing traces of metal. Like other forms of natural stone, each piece is unique featuring natural variations of the color. Travertine flooring dates back to the days of the Roman Empire. Made of crystallized materials and limestone, it has unique color and veining characteristics. To install these stone tiles, you do need to use grout between the pieces. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, it is advisable to have a professional do the work for you to create a floor that you will be proud of.
