The stock market is up and down like a yo-yo, house prices are crashing, employment is reaching 20 year highs…the UK economy is going to hell in a handbasket and firms up and down the country are worried. During times like this the adbertising budget is often the first thing to go, but in many cases it’s a flase economy because for many businesses it will cut off a large flow of leads. Your sales staff can’t do all the work themselves, they need sources to funnel into them, and from there they can close deals.
We saw a good article at Fresh Business Thinking about this: Search Engine Marketing during the recession. It makes the point, correctly I think, that companies shouldn’t be eliminating marketing spend but spending wisely instead. Make every penny count and you can not only live through tough times but thrive in them.
